Remembered on December 19

Boniface and Aglaida

Boniface and Aglaida lived in Rome during the Roman persecutions. Their traditional life tells of two people whose lives changed through repentance. Aglaida sent Boniface east to bring back the relics of martyrs. Seeing Christians suffer in Cilicia, he openly confessed Christ himself. She received his remains and built a church in his honor. Their remembrance leaves room for hope: our past need not decide our future.

How they died

Tradition holds that Boniface was beheaded, while Aglaida later reposed in peace after turning to a life pleasing to God.
