Remembered on November 14
Philip the Apostle
- ApostleA saint sent to proclaim Christ, especially one of the Twelve or the Seventy, or St. Paul.
All apostles
Philip was one of the Twelve Apostles and came from Bethsaida in Galilee. John’s Gospel shows him bringing Nathanael to Jesus and later helping people who wanted to meet the Lord. He could ask questions when he did not understand, as many of us do. His life reminds us that we can bring others toward Christ even while we are still learning ourselves.
How he died
Tradition holds that he preached in Asia Minor and was martyred by crucifixion at Hierapolis.
