Platon and Romanus
- MartyrA saint who was killed for bearing witness to Christ.
All martyrs
Platon and Romanus were Christians remembered for remaining faithful during the Roman persecutions. Platon lived in Ancyra in Asia Minor; Romanus was a deacon from Caesarea who spoke openly for Christ at Antioch. They share a feast day, but were not companions in one event. Their remembrance honors the courage to confess Christ when silence or surrender might have seemed the easier course.
How they died
Tradition holds that Platon was beheaded. Eusebius records that Romanus was strangled in prison.
