Remembered on December 8
Patapius of Thebes
- VenerableA saint remembered for a holy life of monastic prayer, self-denial, and service to God.
All venerable
Patapius was a monk from Thebes in Egypt whose traditional life takes him from the desert to Constantinople. The dates of his life are uncertain. He is remembered for prayer, simplicity and the healing of people who came to him in distress. His remembrance shows that seeking a quiet life with God need not close us off from other people. Prayer can make us more attentive to the suffering close at hand.
How he died
